Sulfate, silicones, parabens... why do we avoid them?

Sulfate is a very common ingredient in shampoos and soaps to form foam. However, this substance performs a more aggressive cleaning, that is, in addition to removing dirt from the hair strands and scalp, it can cause dryness and loss of natural oil from the hair fiber, especially in people with frizzy and curly hair. On the other hand, we understand the importance that sulfate has in cosmetic history, and that this type of ingredient is suitable for anti-residue proposals, for example.

GE Beauty Shampoo was developed for daily use and is free of any type of sulfate, but still has an abundant, creamy foam and, most importantly: non-aggressive to the hair. Its formula contains murumuru and mild surfactants, responsible for cleaning the scalp and hair in a more friendly way for everyday life.

What about silicone? It is used to add shine, repair ends and lubricate the hair fiber. However, its medium-term use can cause an effect called “build up”, when the silicone starts to form an increasingly thicker barrier on the strand, making it difficult to absorb nutrients and leaving the hair lifeless, without movement and more difficult. to comb.

To replace silicone with more advanced and sustainable formulas, the GE Beauty Shampoo, Conditioning Mask and Leave-in Finisher are formulated with an active ingredient based on crambe, sunflower oil and avocado oil, 100% biodegradable. This active ingredient forms a natural film on the hair fiber that provides shine, softness and combability without accumulating residue!

Compositions with petrolatum and its derivatives, such as mineral oils, petroleum jelly and paraffins, are also not used in GE Beauty line formulations. Because they also come from petroleum, these products cause negative impacts on the environment, as they are not biodegradable.

Parabens are chemical preservatives used to prevent the growth of fungi and bacteria in cosmetic products. According to clinical studies, some types of parabens can cause allergies, irritation and skin sensitivities. At GE Beauty, preservatives of 100% natural origin formulated with xylitol are used.

Finally, the dyes! In contact with the skin, they can cause allergies and dermatitis. To reduce this likelihood and ensure cleaner formulas, GE Beauty chose not to add artificial color to its formulation.
